Provide children the opportunity to develop a skill and a fondness for gardening that they'll continue to enjoy and share for a lifetime. Remember what it was like as a child to check the watermelon or bean patch to see how much they had grown - or were they ready to pick? Or to catch lightning bugs or follow a butterfly across the yard. Children will generally respond to gardening more if they see it as 'fun' versus work. Check out our educational site (under development) for ideas on creating fun and educational gardening experiences for children. We have many children's gifts that can provide a start. The root viewer offers a visual of plants growing. Children can work beside you with their size garden tools. If they love bugs, the Creature Peeper , Watch A Bug and Bug Lifecycle Book will encourage their interest.
